I started as a part time assistant at 16 and progressed on to do my apprenticeship with one of the leading hairdressing chains. I stayed on and progressed my skill set for 10 years, where I completed my L’Oréal colour degree and NVQ assessors qualification. I also got to the regional finals in the L’Oréal Colour Trophy for seven consecutive years. I then took a six month break to go travelling in 2017. Since coming back I’ve done the corporate chain, the small independent and the high end boutique. I really struggled and felt like i wasn’t getting what I wanted from the industry, so decided to take the plunge and go self employed in 2019. I did this by renting a chair at a local salon and going mobile to dip my toe into the world of freelancing and running my own business.
